The education of the whole child is a cooperative effort. We will keep children, staff, parents, Board members, and future alumni connected. We will share information on events and celebrations. We invite parents to volunteer for special projects both within and outside the program environments.

Michelle Cochran
Executive DirectorMichelle completed her formal education at the University of Calgary and graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education. She has 25 years of teaching experience in Early Childhood and Elementary age children including resource, working with students with special needs, single and multiage classes and was vice principal and principal of a Montessori school. She is a passionate educator and leader who demonstrates kindness, inclusiveness and enthusiasm and instills a love of learning to all. She is looking forward to being a part of Wing Kei Montessori School and organization.

May Leung
Program DirectorMay is born and raised in Hong Kong and immigrated to Canada with her family in the early 90s. She completed Master in Teaching at the University of Calgary in 2008 and got her first opportunity at a well-known Montessori school in the city. At the school, she was able to experience first-hand being in a beautiful prepared environment working with a group of mixed aged children. She quickly fell in love with the philosophy and continued to further her knowledge in area of Montessori. She received her AMI diploma from MISD in San Diego. As a mother of a three year old and a Montessori Guide for many years, her passion and dedication for early childhood education continues to grow. She is looking forward to help pave new paths for children at Wing Kei Montessori School.

Laura Ceccato
Primary Montessori GuideLaura was born in Mexico, which is where she received all her education. In Mexico she was working in a traditional school in kindergarten, when she discovered the Montessori Method. That’s when she decided to make a career move to the Kindergarten and Elementary Montessori method.
Laura has been teaching Montessori for 35 years in both areas and she loves to attend refresher courses frequently in Montessori Education and child development. She came to visit a friend in Calgary in 1989 and loved it. This is where she met her husband and had a son, who attended Montessori school. Laura enjoys music, cooking, reading and travelling, and she is involved with volunteering in the church community.

Jess Leung
Primary Montessori GuideJess is born in Hong Kong and came to Canada at a very young age. She developed a passion for working with children since she was 12. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelors of Education; majored in Mandarin, and minored in Special Needs. In 2020, she completed the AMI Primary Certification and became a certified Montessori guide and is currently pursuing her Master in Education. She is thrilled to be part of the Wing Kei Montessori School and looks forward to growing with the organization.

Zoe Wu
Primary Montessori GuideZoe has been an AMI Primary Directress since graduated from Foundation for Montessori Education in Toronto. She is also working with AMI training centres as training interpreter for summer programs.
Prior to AMI, Zoe holds an Honours Bachelors of Arts in Economics from Lancaster University in United Kingdom. She is certified and has been teaching Chinese as a second language for many years. After immigrate to Canada, Zoe started Early Childhood Education training in Montreal and fell in love with Montessori Pedagogy ever since. Zoe is devoted to assist children to develop physically, spiritually, as well as intellectually, and become a whole person. She is looking forward to walk this new journey with Wing Kei Montessori School.

Christie Lam
Toddler Montessori AssistantChristie is originally from Hong Kong. She is proficient in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
She has been teaching in a Chinese school for two years. Christie is very thankful and blessed to join the Wing Kei family. She is looking forward to this new chapter in her life and working with all the families, children, and staffs at Wing Kei Montessori School.

Gloria Wong
Toddler Montessori AssistantShe believed Montessori program can help children develop in many ways on their young age. Her 6 years old son is starting a new page in grade 1 Montessori school in September. Also She is excited to start a new journey with Wing Kei.

Jing Chen
Toddler Montessori AssistantJing is born in China and immigrant to Canada with her family in 2017. She graduated with a Bachelor Degree of Business Administration and is fluent in English and Mandarin.
As a mother of a 9-month old girl, she is eager to learn more about Montessori Philosophy and children development at Wing Kei. She is currently pursuing the Certificate of Early Childhood Education to expand her knowledge about childcare in early age. Jing enjoys cooking, traveling, and making hand crafts.

Liza Law
Toddler Montessori AssistantLiza Law was born, raised and educated in Hong Kong. She moved to Calgary in 2014. She is a very caring person and is very enthusiastic in helping the ones in needs. She has been working in a senior home for a few years; where she has gained experience on how to support the ones who needs attention, physically and psychologically. On the other hand, she always loves children. It was that great opportunity she met to work in Wing Kei Montessori School. She is very pleased to provide assistance to the children and help them to develop a healthy and happy time there.

Wendy Chen
Toddler Montessori AssistantWendy is born in Fujian China, and immigrated to Canada with her family at a very young age. She is multilingual, fluent in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Fujianese. Wendy has over eighteen years of experience working in fields of community rehabilitation, early child care and teaching, and hospitality. She worked as a Community Rehabilitation Worker for special need students for eight years at Columbia College; during the tenure she obtained a Human Service Diploma with distinction from Columbia College. In 2013, Wendy decided to shift her career and take on a new challenge in educating young children. She then completed a Montessori Classroom Assistant Certificate from Montessori Teachers College and completed a level 2 Child Care Certificate to enhance her knowledge of child development. She had worked as a Teacher Assistant at the Calgary Montessori School and as a Chinese School teacher at Abundant Life Lutheran Church. Wendy also had a fulfilling career in the hospitality industry for over eighteen years, including more than five years as a successful entrepreneur in a small business.

Clare Poon
Primary Montessori AssistantClare was born and raised from Hong Kong. She moved to Calgary since 2016. She can speak Cantonese, Mandarin and English. Clare graduated from Early Childhood Education and Development Diploma from Bow Valley College in 2018.
Blessed to join Wing Kei Family and looking forward to work with children and assist them to learn in a safe, healthy and happy environment at Wing Kei Montessori School.

Esther Ngai
Primary Montessori AssistantEsther was born in Hong Kong and came to Canada at a young age. She has Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Manitoba. Esther volunteered with various organizations to support children, experienced working with disability child for two years. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, drawing and spending time with her cat.

Hannah Wong
Primary Montessori AssistantHannah was born and raised in Hong Kong. She completed her schooling in Hong Kong as well. She first learned about Montessori back in 2010 and decided to take an Assistant Training Course. Since then, she worked with children ages 3 - 6 at a Montessori School in Calgary for the past 10 years. She is very thankful and blessed raising her two sons, watching them grow and live life happily. Hannah is excited to embark another Montessori journey at Wing Kei Montessori School and will continue to grow as she gains more experience and knowledge about the Montessori Philosophy.

Ice Chan
Primary Montessori AssistantIce is born in Hong Kong and came to Canada at a young age. She can speak English, Cantonese and some Mandarin. She has a Bachelor of Sociology from University of Calgary. On top of that Ice has her level 2 Early Childhood Certification and has worked 5+ years in a daycare setting. She is thankful to be part of the Wing Kei Montessori School family. She is excited & eager to start her new chapter learning about Montessori teaching / philosophies and making positive impact on children's lives as they grow.

Jo Tang
Primary Montessori AssistantJo is born in Hong Kong and moved to Calgary in 2011. She graduated with a Higher Diploma in Hotel and Catering Management. Jo teaches Chinese language and culture at a Chinese School in Calgary. She is excited to join Wing Kei Montessori School to learn more about the Montessori Philosophy as well as working with children in a mixed age classroom. She is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. In the classroom, she also help delivers the Cantonese dialect to the children in our bilingual program.

Mia Liang
Primary Montessori AssistantMia was born and raised in China, and received her master degree in Teaching of English from Teacher's College, Columbia University in New York City after completing her Bachelor Degree in China. She lived in the United States for ten years, working as a Service Coordinator for the New York State Early Intervention program, a Research Assistant at Brown University, and a Mandarin teacher at a public school in Massachusetts. She then worked as an English instructor at a University in China for two years before moving to Canada. Her education experience in Calgary included working as a substitute teacher for the Calgary Board of Education and an Education Coordinator (Resource Teacher) for the PUF program (Program Unit Funding, an early intervention program with Alberta Education) at a private school. She's an Alberta certified teacher, and is planning to pursue her AMI Montessori training this summer. She's excited to start her new journey with all the amazing kids, families, and staff at Wing Kei.

Angela Wai
Music Specialist and Primary Montessori AssistantAngela Wai (Miss KiKi) has over two decades of public speaking, project management, and broadcasting experience in Calgary. A University of Calgary graduate, minor in Music Education, Angela was an educator with the Calgary Chinese Children’s Choir while she was a regular show host Fairchild Radio CHKM94.7 FM even before she graduated from University. Angela has a strong passion to inspire kids to sing and to enjoy music. Before she joined Wing Kei Montessori School, Angela was a Cantonese Language and Music Instructor at Lifelong Learning Academy. You can still hear her voice on air as she is now also a morning radio show host.

Charlotte He
Special Education SpecialistCharlotte has a Bachelor of Child and Youth Care from University of Victoria and has been working in the field of early childhood education for over ten years, including working in a school-based early intervention program (PUF) and a home-based support program (FSCD). While working in early learning settings, Charlotte developed her passion for working with young children with developmental delays or diagnosis. Charlotte finds it rewarding to see how much growth can occur over a year after children receive appropriate supports. She is thrilled to integrate play-based intervention strategies with the Montessori philosophy to assist and empower children in achieving their full potential.

Our Board is a cohesive group of parents, educators, and community leaders who are committed to the success and to enhancing its resources and recognition. Together with the Montessori leaders and staff, they measure performance and ensure our program fulfils its mission.
